Nityananda Trayodasi: Appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu

The appearance day of Lord Nityananda Prabhu, the most merciful giver of Krishna consciousness, who never considers anyone's faults.

Significance of this day

Lord Nityananda Prabhu appeared in Ekachakra, Birbhum — not far from Asansol — and is understood in Gaudiya theology as Lord Balarama, the original spiritual master and the source of all strength in devotional service.

With Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu He went from door to door begging people simply to chant Krishna's names; even when struck by Jagai and Madhai He responded with mercy, and both became devotees.

It is said that no one can approach Sri Chaitanya without first receiving the grace of Nityananda Prabhu, who freely gives what others must struggle to attain.

• Fasting till noon, followed by feast prasadam.
• Abhishek of Sri Nitai, kirtan and readings from Chaitanya Bhagavata describing His pastimes.
