Significance of this day

Lord Sri Ramachandra appeared in Ayodhya as the son of Maharaja Dasharatha to establish the principles of religion by His own perfect example.

The Ramayana describes His exile, the rescue of Mother Sita and the ideal of Rama-rajya — governance rooted in truth, protection and compassion.

Hearing His pastimes and chanting His holy names purifies the heart and awakens the qualities of a devotee.

How it is observed at ISKCON Asansol

• Fasting till sunset, abhishek of Sri Sita-Rama-Lakshmana-Hanuman, readings from the Ramayana and evening feast.
