Srila Prabhupada — Appearance

An observance honouring Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, who brought Krishna consciousness to the world.

Significance of this day

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada travelled alone to New York in 1965 at the age of sixty-nine and within eleven years established more than a hundred temples across the globe.

He translated and commented on the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad Bhagavatam and Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita, fulfilling the prediction of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Every ISKCON temple, including ISKCON Asansol, exists by his instruction and mercy.

How it is observed at ISKCON Asansol

• Guru-puja, offering of flowers and pushpanjali, reading from his books and letters, and prasadam offered in his honour.
